Sisley Paris is delighted to present the Sisley Global Tree Challenge 2022, the company’s first international sports challenge involving all Sisley teams worldwide. Running from the 21st of March to the 22nd of April 2022, the project has been organised in collaboration with One Tree Planted, a non-profit organisation focused on global reforestation.
This year, the Sisley Tree Challenge is focused on reforestation in Australia. The combination of low precipitation and record high temperatures during Australia’s 2019-2020 summer season, resulted in dramatic bushfires across the country that drew global attention and devastation. It is estimated that over 17 million hectares of trees were burned, and more than 1 billion animals were killed in the fires.
The goal of the Sisley Tree Challenge 2022 is to plant 40,000 trees; for every 1 kilometre of running, 2 kilometres of walking, or 3 kilometres of cycling completed by a Sisley staff member, 1 tree will be planted. Every tree planted will assist to restore native forests, prevent future fires, and protect wildlife and their habitat. This reforestation project will also employ and engage local communities, landholders, local farmers and the local Indigenous community, the Noongar.
