Amouage Imitation launch at Vintage Luggage Company

Internationally revered fragrance house Amouage introduced their latest collection Imitation to Australia with a decadent Studio 54 inspired event for prominent editors, bloggers and industry influencers.

The showcase took place at the Baccarat Café, part of luxury boutique and Amouage stockist Vintage Luggage Company in Sydney’s Double Bay, where guests were hosted by Agence de Parfum’s director Nick Smart and revered Fragrances of the World founding editor Michael Edwards, together with Amouage Australian press agency Élysée Collective.

Among the prestigious attendees were former editor in chief of Australian Vogue Kirstie Clements; editor of the Australian Financial Review Life & Leisure section Charis Perkins; Fragrances of the World’s Margaret Khoury; respected journalists from Vogue Australia, Harper’s BAZAAR, Sunday Life, Belle, Gritty Pretty, Indulgence Magazine and Grazia; and influencers including Steve Cordony and Simon Hancock.

Michael spoke fondly to guests of his personal time spent in New York City in the 1970s, translating his own anecdotes and relating them to the imaginative journey that inspired Chong’s latest masterpiece, through a city filled with graffiti, neon lights and a myriad of cultures.

Attendees sampled distinctive New York flavours with a menu of traditional sweet and savory miniature bagels, apple doughnuts and cinnamon scrolls accompanied by mimosas and champagne.

The room was styled with oversized graphics from the Imitation campaign, accompanied by classic black and white photographs shot in the infamous Studio 54 in the 1970s – with stars such as Mick Jagger, Diana Ross, Diana Vreeland, Cher, Barbara Streisand, Woody Allen, Keith Richards, Bianca Jagger, Debbie Harry, Yves Saint Laurent, Liza Minelli, Brook Shields, Truman Capote and of course Andy Warhol.  Renowned floral event stylists The Bespoke Boys captured the theme with a decadent display of vivid and psychedelic florals, while personalised rose gold Amouage and confetti balloons in the fragrance’s metallic colours of blue, green and pink added an extra touch.

Amouage fragrances are available in Australia at Agence de Parfum’s retail arm Libertine Parfumerie, online through, as well as exclusively through selected David Jones department stores and other niche perfumeries in Australia and New Zealand.
